In this semester, Innovation Center Head Vladimir Petrovic is teaching a course Persecution, mass murder and genocide in comparative perspective at University of Amsterdam, with a focus on modes and varieties of perpetration of mass crimes in Nazi Germany, Rwanda, former Yugoslavia and other locations. He will also use the material from our project The End of Yugoslavia, in order to contribute to more interactive exchange of knowledge on this difficult topic. The course closes with a lecture “Perpetrators, victims, and the rest of us”, in which he uses not only the well-known category of bystanders, but also its opposite –rarer, yet important examples of upstanders.
