Professor Olivera Simic from Griffith University, Brisbane was invited by Vladimir Petrovic to NIOD to present on her latest book Madam War Criminal: Biljana Plavsic, Serbia’s Iron Lady. The book is built on extensive interviews Simic had with Plavsic, which opened up not only a lively discussion about book’s findings, but also an opportunity for a reflection on ethical problems inherent to studying perpetrators. Do we talk with them and how? Simic was very candid about her dilemmas and strains this research was putting on her, giving the audience an early insight into the book which will be out this October.
