Since its inception, CISI was driven by the need to contemporize and innovate historiographical production. Our digitalization efforts made us recognizable in that regard. We also experimented with combining research results and teaching materials, including even gamification. In the last couple of years, we were grappling with the penetration of AI into all spheres of life. We noted that it influences historical research every step of the way. We reached out to institutions specialized for this area, such as Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History. After attending their conference AI through History, History through AI prompted us to systematize our knowledge and intentions. Hence, we are sharing here our Position Paper on the Usage of Artificial Intelligence in Historical Research. We purposefully left in an open-ended google document, as our aim is to gather impressions, advices and ideas, given that this challenge is here to stay.
